NORTHPORT, AL — The Northport Police Department on Tuesday identified an Indiana man who died from his injuries after being struck by a vehicle on McFarland Boulevard Sunday evening. Click here to subscribe to our free Tuscaloosa Daily newsletter and breaking news alerts NPD Assistant Chief Keith Carpenter said in a press release that 24-year-old Van Ling Thang, of Indianapolis, was attempting to cross McFarland Boulevard at its 1900 block just before 6:14 p.m. Sunday when he was hit by a 2008 Ford Explorer driven by a Northport resident. Thang was transported to DCH Regional Medical Center in Tuscaloosa and died shortly thereafter from his injuries. The fatal incident remains under investigation by NPD's Accident Reconstruction Team.
