DOUGLAS COUNTY, GA — A former Douglas County government employee was arrested last week and now faces two charges related to impersonating an officer, all while under investigation for possible theft charges, the Douglas County Sentinel reported.
Gary Jenkins, 70, of Villa Rica, was arrested Nov. 11 and charged with impersonating an officer, as well as obstruction or hindering law enforcement for refusing to properly identify himself, according to an arrest warrant obtained by the Sentinel. Villa Rica police officers were questioning him on a theft of services complaint at the La Fiesta Mexican Bar in Villa Rica when he was arrested.
Jenkins retired from his position as a government services director for Douglas County in 2019. He was released Nov. 13 on a $25,000 bond, the Sentinel reported.
