ALEA says the 16-year-old, who has not been named publicly, was fatally injured when the 2012 Nissan Maxima the teen was driving left the roadway and struck a culvert. The teenager was pronounced dead at the scene.
Troopers said the crash occurred on Hale County Road 21, five miles north of Akron.
ALEA's Highway Patrol Division continues to investigate.
