I just heard that fantastic, Santa Barbara guitar player/band leader/great guy, Ernie Orosco, died on November 3. Ernie and his late brother, Cory, were two of the greatest musicians that I ever knew. They and their younger brother, Brian, were the house band at the Earl Warren Showgrounds when the big dogs of the time played there (Jimi Hendrix; The Doors; Janis Joplin and Big Brother and the Holding Company, etc.). Ernie and Cory toured with the Strawberry Alarm Clock and also as Ernie and The Emperors and The Brian Faith Band. They completed the first recordings of Katy Perry, Jewel, Toad The Wet Sprocket and others at Songwriters and Musicians Studio in Goleta. Ernie was one bad ass guitar player and Cory was a multi-instumentalist second to none (piano; Hammond B3 organ; guitar; bass; mandolin; banjo; guitar/sitar combo; etc.). Ernie and Cory will always be in our minds and in our recordings.
