where are the musicians?

Dude, you nailed it! I'm so glad someone finally noticed and said something...this area has been overcome by a buch of hacks and has been that way for years now. The small handfull of good musicians stay out of the circuit around here. There are a few good ones that try to get involved and play out but you have to pay attention to who they are and go when they do play out. It's not real often. There are some Musicians that are not great but they play their Hearts out and support charities and such. Those are tollerable at times but the cause they support makes it acceptible. In summary, the really great Musicians in this area are not playing out here. They are going out of town, normally to Myrtle Beach or Wilmington area. The real reason my friend is the places that do support live music don't pay what it takes to get and keep the good ones coming around. I for one am a Musician that has played around here for over 30 years. The issue with pay is it is the same that it was in 1990. I for one would rather stay home or just go out to see my friends and suffer through the lesser quality Musicians than to go through the work and play for the same pennies they paid around here back in the day! The best paying gigs are the same ones they were back in the 80's and 90's. The US Open KMT and the 4th of July Waterfront Gig! Everything else is weak money for a really good Musician to show up and deliver the goods! Somehow, the trend needs to change but I doubt I'll see it before I'm gone! Hang in there!! Help make it change and start a great band but don't expect to get paid what you're worth!
