Develop your understanding of Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) and adapt how you engage with others who experience ACEs and trauma.
The Norfolk Community Services Board is sponsoring a free training, facilitated by Danielle McDowell, Resident in Counseling.
This free training is open to all those working in a professional & volunteer capacity or residing in the Norfolk,VA area. Masks are required and social distancing will be required.
The ACEs study has shown that the more ACEs individuals experience in childhood, the greater their risk of a wide range of health-harming behaviors and diseases as an adult.
This training session provides an in-depth understanding of ACEs & trauma and their potential impact on thoughts, feelings & behaviors. It aims to heighten empathy towards individuals who have experienced ACEs & trauma and put this increased knowledge into practice in day-to-day work with individuals in our community.
By the end of the session participants will have:
Developed their understanding of ACEs & trauma and their effect on behaviors & decision making
Increased their empathy towards the general public
Learned to adopt their practice to show empathy & understanding of ACEs & trauma
This training will be interactive and a few raffles will be offered, so plan to stay the entire training. Remember wearing a mask will be required along with social distancing practices.
