Pair of Northern Red Bishop weavers

Description

I am looking to rehome my pair of red bishop weavers. ($100 firm for this pair. cage not included) Both are under 2 yrs of age and were purchased from 2 different breeders out of state. I was going to try my hand at raising them since I do raise other finches but these are pretty difficult to breed. They do need special care/room/etc and I do not have the room for that. The male will weave his own nest, they will NOT accept a fake nest so nesting material-grasses, hay etc as well as sturdy branches are needed for him to do so. They are small birds, about the size of zebra finches. Should NOT be kept with other finches. They tend to be a more aggressive type of finch. They are very healthy birds. I do treat all of my birds with SCATT and quarantine them whenever I get a new bird in the house so no mites! The male will get the gorgeous bright red orange feathers when he is in breeding season. My male as you can see in the pics is starting to molt now and will look more like the female in the following weeks. He will molt again in late spring/summer when ready to breed and regain his gorgeous feathers. Pics also show him with his full color from this summer. First pic was this summer, other pics were today. He makes a 'chuck chuck' noise like a squirrel and makes some whistling/peeping type sounds but otherwise they are not noisy birds. They are flighty and need room to fly. Not a bird that would tolerate you 'holding' it. Like most finches, they are to be looked at and enjoyed not played with. Please so some research before getting them. I feed them Kaytee finch seed mix, and offer them mealworms a few times a week. They do enjoy mealworms. They also enjoy a bath so I keep a bird bath in their cage so they can have that when they want it. Their cage is NOT included. I will have them in a small cage when we meet up and can either transfer them to your cage if you bring one or I can bring a small finch cardboard pet carrier and put them in that for you if you are not traveling a long distance. I am asking $100 firm for this pair. That is less than what I paid since I ordered one from Rhode Island and paid for shipping, etc. Email me if you have questions Im in no rush to get rid of them so offering me less is not going to affect anything. I can meet in Duncan ONLY. Duncan is between Greenville and Spartanburg. Please google map directions before asking me where Duncan is.
