Priority One Services is seeking an Position: Assistant Animal Care Technician Location: University of Vermont Description: The successful applicant for this position assists in the care and maintenance of healthy laboratory animals in accordance with federal, state, and institutional guidelines. The Animal Care Assistant must properly use and maintain all necessary equipment and follow proper techniques as outlined in standard operating processes. This is an entry level position and ranks first out five overall positions. This position is full time M-F. Advancement possibilities for this position are very high if candidate shows enthusiasm and motivation. Benefits: Dental, Health, 401K, paid holiday, sick and vacation Working Hours: M-F 7:30am to 4:00pm, • Sanitation of research animal caging and supplies • Operating heavy machinery (including cage washer, autoclave) • Sweeping and mopping floors, using floor-scrubbing machine • Empty trash • Maintain cleanliness and organization of assigned storage rooms • Stocking personal protective equipment (PPE) stations • Moving shipments of bedding, feed and other supplies from loading dock to animal facilities and other designated locations throughout • Ability to lift up to 50lbs, bend, stoop, pivot and perform repetitive motions on a daily basis • Transport supplies throughout facilities • Package and prep boxes of waste for incineration/disposal • Use approved chemicals, cleaners and disinfectants for sanitizing designated areas and accessories • Maintain clean and sanitary working areas at all times • Ability to maintain detailed records of daily activities and quality assurance logs • Perform basic animal husbandry tasks and health checks as assigned • Perform duties in a fast-paced environment • Work with minimal supervision in a team environment • Have and maintain a valid Driver's License • Must be able to effectively communicate verbally, in writing and via email • Other duties as assigned To apply for this position please with your resume to [email protected] or fax resume to 802-656-2234
