Create a Mint Tin Assemblage
Mint tin boxes, like Altoids, are a versatile and charming palette for any number of creative works, from survival kits to gadgets and especially for miniatures. I’ve enjoyed working with them for years to create miniature assemblages; mostly creepy, but also rather quaint. So that’s given me a lot of practical, creative knowledge that I want to share with you! Join me at The Darkwood House Gallery to learn how to create your own miniature mint tin box assemblage for your own enjoyment or to give as a unique gift for the holidays.
I’ll provide you with everything you need to make your own tin treasure including the blank tins, sticks and stones, shells, small bones, pieces of glass, old photos, cloth and paper fragments, and any number of odd bits and scraps that have been filling up drawers and bins in my studio. Of course you’re welcome to bring your own tin and little, personal things to fill it with!
I’ll show you how to secure your objects inside the tin using a variety of glues and adhesives, and how to paint your tin using distressing techniques to make them look aged and antique.
Sign up fast because space is limited, that’s why I’m using Eventbrite to assure attendance for 10 persons at $30 each. 18+ only! Proceeds go towards supporting the gallery and its artists!
