MARBLEHEAD, MA — The Marblehead transfer station is the latest spot on the North Shore to be hit with racist and antisemitic graffiti. Marblehead Police Chief Dennis King said on Monday that the town's health agent found the graffiti on a shipping container at the station. King said it is believed the graffiti was recently spray-painted but an exact time has not been determined. King said police were called to begin an investigation and the graffiti was covered up. As of Monday, King said there are no identified suspects or additional graffiti found. "These hateful acts will not be tolerated within the Marblehead community and our department will deploy all available resources to identify and prosecute those responsible," King said. "Additionally, we strongly encourage the reporting of like incidents." King asked that anyone who saw something suspicious in the area or knows anything about the incident call the Marblehead Police Department at 617-631-1212 and ask for Detective Sergeant Sean Brady, who is leading the investigation. Last week, racist and antisemitic graffiti was found in the bathroom of the Holten Richmond Middle School in Danvers at the same time that town struggles to deal with accusations of racist behavior and homophobic hazing within the high school hockey program.
