STAMFORD, CT — A Stamford man was arrested last Friday morning with a warrant that charges him with first-degree failure to appear stemming from a prior arrest in 2020, according to police.
Dayshaun Gomez, 21, also faces an additional gun charge after police said they found a weapon during a search at his residence on Merrill Avenue.
According to Capt. Richard Conklin of the Stamford Police Department, Gomez was originally arrested in April 2020 and charged with interfering with police, illegal possession of a weapon in a motor vehicle, illegal possession of a facsimile firearm and trespassing. Conklin didn't immediately have more details surrounding the circumstances of the arrest.
Gomez posted a $5,000 bond then, but stopped going to court. Conklin said police issued a warrant that charges him with first-degree failure to appear with a $50,000 court-set bond.
Over the course of a couple-week investigation, officers had information that Gomez was in possession of a pistol, Conklin said, adding that a condition of his bond on the prior arrest prohibited him from having a gun.
Officers went to Gomez's home on Merrill Avenue Friday morning to execute the warrant and perform a search. They found a loaded 380 semi-automatic Walter handgun, Conklin said.
Gomez was additionally charged with criminal possession of a firearm, and given a $100,000 bond on that charge, Conklin said.
Gomez is due in court on Nov. 26.
