Trio Charged In Botched Robbery Attempt, Fleeing Cops: Nassau PD

WESTBURY, NY — Three Nassau men were arrested Thursday night after a failed robbery attempted, police said. According to police, a 38-year-old man was walking on Dartmouth Avenue in Westbury around 11 p.m. when he was approached by two other man holding knives. The armed men demanded the victim's wallet and money, police said, and the victim refused. He yelled for help, and police say the two armed men fled the scene on foot. A short time later, police say that officers saw a grey Mazda speed off near the intersection of Linden Avenue and Union Avenue. The officers pulled the car over, and three men got out and fled on foot, police said. Police say they searched the area and found all three men at 11:30 p.m. Police arrested Daniel Padilla, 33, of Roosevelt; Carlos Licona, 32, of Hicksville; and Kevin Arriola, 20, of Hempstead. Police say the car they were driving was reported stolen from Roosevelt on Nov. 3. All three men are charged with first- and second-degree attempted robbery and third-degree unauthorized use of a vehicle. Licona and Padilla are also charged with third-degree criminal possession of a weapon. The three were arraigned in First District Court in Hempstead on Nov. 12.
