Description

1 mile Guided Tour to St. Louis Canyon from the canyon's parking lot. Join park naturalists for a fun and informative hike to one of the largest canyons in the park to view ice formations and a possible icefall! Park naturalists will open your eyes to the wonders of winter along the trail as they identify trees, animal tracks, and the geology that makes Starved Rock so unique! Hike will cover 1 mile of trail including one large staircase. Please dress for the weather and keep in mind trails may be snow covered, icy, or even muddy depending on the weather. Masks are required during this time of COVID precautions. All hikers that register for this hike will check in with the Park Interpreter/Volunteer Naturalists at the St. Louis Canyon parking lot off of Route 178 just across from the Grand Bear Lodge at least 10 minutes prior to the hike's start time. Hikes will leave promptly at start time listed (8:30 or 1). Masks are required please. Please email [email protected] at least a day in advance if you will not be able to make your scheduled hike.
