Olde Town Shooting Decision: DA To Host Public Forum

ARVADA, CO — The Jefferson County district attorney's office is set to host a virtual community forum Wednesday to discuss the outcome of the Olde Town shooting investigation. No charges will be filed against the Arvada police officer who shot and killed Samaritan Johnny Hurley, the DA announced last week. Hurley, 40, was shot and killed June 21 by the officer after Hurley shot a gunman in Olde Town, the Arvada Police Department confirmed. The gunman shot and killed Arvada officer Gordon Beesley before Hurley arrived. A multi-agency Critical Incident Response Team — under the direction of Jefferson County DA Alexis King — investigated Hurley's death. The DA's office decided not to charge the Arvada officer with the shooting. "We strongly encourage our neighbors throughout Arvada, Jefferson County and our judicial district to attend and have their questions answered." To ensure that King can address as many concerns as possible, registrants will be asked to submit questions in advance, the DA's office said.
