NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ — Two New Brunswick men were taken into custody Monday and charged with murdering a third man, Lorenzo Hill Staten, 32, of Franklin. Staten was fatally shot at 8:12 p.m. Nov. 2 in the area of Seamen Street and Remsen Avenue in New Brunswick. When police got there, they found Staten with multiple gunshot wounds. He was taken to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead. Police say that Jhon German-Suarez, 24, and Wendis Rodriguez-Quiles, 31, both of New Brunswick conspired to shoot and kill him. The murder does not appear to be a random act and all three men knew each other, said the Middlesex County Prosecutor. Both men were in the Bronx when they were taken into police custody Monday, by U.S. Marshals, New Brunswick Police and State Police. German-Suarez was charged with one count of first-degree murder and one count of second-degree possession of a handgun for an unlawful purpose. Rodriguez-Quiles was charged with one count of first-degree conspiracy to commit murder, one count of first-degree murder and one count of second-degree possession of a handgun for an unlawful purpose. German-Suarez and Rodriguez-Quiles remain in custody in New York pending extradition hearings.
