Children of all ages are invited to visit library branches now through November 24 to hear stories of turkey, friendship, and Thanksgiving in advance of the holidays. All Shreve Memorial Library branches will be closed on Thursday, November 25 and Friday, November 26 for the Thanksgiving holiday. Thanksgiving-themed story time programs will take place at Shreve Memorial Library branches throughout Caddo Parish. Story time programs are ideal children of preschool age and their families, but are open to children of all ages. On Tuesday, November 16, children at the North Shreveport branch are invited to "talk turkey" with songs, stories and an interactive flannel board game at the "Gobble Gobble!" story time. Later in the afternoon at 3:30 p.m., children up to age 5 will hear stories, sing songs, play games and make a craft all about turkeys at the Cedar Grove-Line Avenue Branch, located at 8303 Line Avenue. The Atkins Branch will also have a second opportunity for preschool students to enjoy a Thanksgiving-themed story time. The branch will host a "Happy Thanksgiving" story time on Thursday, November 18 at 10:00 a.m. The story time will help toddlers and children build vocabulary and listening skills. Homeschool students are also invited to join in on the Thanksgiving festivities. On Friday, November 19, the North Shreveport Branch will host STEMSgiving at 10:00 a.m. for homeschool students.
