(WDSU New Orleans) New Orleans-based federal appeals court temporarily stopped a COVID-19 vaccine mandate. (WAFB) The New Orleans election leaves Mayor LaToya Cantrell in office for a second term, winning 65 percent of the vote. Orleans Parish Sheriff Marlin Gusman failed to secure a fifth term by winning more than 50 percent of the primary vote. Only 2 of 7 city council members are certain to return.
