Description

Press release from LA County Library: October 28, 2021 With Veteran's Day around the corner, we want to take this opportunity to honor our veterans, recognize and celebrate their service and provide supportive services through our Veterans Resource Centers (VRCs). Created in partnership with the California Department of Veterans Affairs (CalVet) and with funding from the California State Library's Veterans Connect @ the Library grant, these centers are designed to assist and provide resources to veterans and their loved ones. Located at 4 LA County Library locations—Lancaster, La Puente, Lawndale, and Norwalk—these centers are open during library business hours and provide a variety of information and services, like access to a phone line, computers, and wireless printing. Vets can find materials on benefits (both state and federal) as well as local services and resources for housing, healthcare, finance, education, and employment. And, of course, the VRCs are stocked with a collection of books and DVDs for both children and adults. Additionally, with a special focus on providing information to reintegrate California veterans into the workforce and communities, Brainfuse VetNow/JobNow is an online resource available to veterans, which can be accessed from the VRCs or from home via the link above. (Brought to you by the California State Library and CARES act.) For more information, visit our Veterans Resource Centers page.
