NORTHBROOK, IL — The following information comes from the Northbrook Police Department and court records as a record of incidents reported to police and those arrested on criminal charges, which represent accusations by the state that are often dropped or reduced. Updated information may be available from the Cook County Clerk of the Circuit Court. Everyone arrested is presumed to be innocent unless found guilty in court beyond a reasonable doubt. INCIDENTS SUSPICIOUS CIRCUMSTANCEA resident in the 700 block of Hazelwood Drive reported at 6:05 p.m. Nov. 5, they believed their garage had been burglarized. An officer documented damage to complainant's garage. DECEPTIVE PRACTICEA person called police at 10:27 a.m. Nov. 6, to report they were approached by two men, one in their 20s and one in their 30s, in the 1100 block of Willow Road. The first man claimed that he recognized the complainant from work that was done on their car at Evanston Subaru. He told the complainant that when the vehicle was last in for service, they found serious damage that needed to be addressed and that he and the second man, who had a mallet in their hands, could address it now. The complainant agreed and the two men put a substance on the complainant's vehicle. After this was completed, they demanded that complainant pay them. The complainant felt intimidated by the men, then drove with one of them to two banks outside of Northbrook to cash checks for payment. RETAIL THEFTAn employee at Neiman Marcus, 1400 block of Lake Cook Road, reported at 6:38 p.m. Nov. 6, three men entered the store, removed various clothing items, and then fled in an unknown direction to a waiting vehicle. CRIMINAL DEFACEMENTA resident of the 2400 block of El Cid Lane called police at 10:43 a.m. Nov. 8, to report someone placed graffiti on a window of the residence. FRAUD A Smith Road resident reported at 9:22 a.m. Nov. 9, someone purchased three iPhones on their cellular account without their authorization.An employee at Ron's Staffing Services, 600 block of Dundee Road, called police at 8:56 a.m. Nov. 11, to report they received notifications from their bank that fraudulent checks had been written and cashed from their account. Complainant reported that 10 checks had been discovered in total and had been cashed at unknown locations by different people. LAST WEEK: Citgo Disturbance Leads To Felony Weapon Charge NEIGHBOR PROBLEM A resident in the 2200 block of Center Avenue called police at 9:11 a.m. Nov. 9, to report while they were cutting a tree branch for disposal, a neighbor approached them while filming them with their cell phone. Complainant claimed that the neighbor was making statements that the complainant needs to make an apology to them for an unknown issue between the two parties. Complainant said that they do not know of any reason why an apology needed to be made. Both neighbors were informed to not have any further contact. CRIMINAL DAMAGE TO PROPERTY A resident in the 2400 block of El Cid Lane reported that between 3 p.m. and 5 p.m. Nov. 8, someone damaged a gutter extension and removed a downspout for their residence. THEFT A resident in the 1500 block of Christina Lane called police to report an item that they ordered was scheduled to arrive on Oct. 19 and has never arrived. Complainant believes that the item was taken from their porch or stolen prior to them being able to retrieve it. THEFT OF LOST/MISLAID PROPERTY A customer at BMO Harris Bank, 500 block of Skokie Boulevard, reported at 9 a.m. Oct. 26, their iPhone had fallen out of their pocket and was picked up by someone. CUSTOMER DISPUTE A person called police at 3:53 a.m. Nov. 10, to report two passengers in their vehicle were refusing to pay for cab fare in the 4000 block of Ridgeland. An officer made contact with the two, who were disputing the amount being charged, as it was higher than what their understanding of the fare was. They paid the amount after the officer intervened.
