JOLIET, IL — Tatyana Harris, a 23-year-old Park Forest woman, was arrested by Joliet police Sunday evening on two counts of aggravated battery after authorities say she used her car to run over a 24-year-old woman. The victim landed on the hood of Harris' car and fell to the ground, seriously injuring her leg, according to police.
"Harris and the victim were engaged in a feud over the same romantic interest," Joliet police spokesman Dwayne English indicated.
Joliet police learned of a fight around 5:45 p.m. near Eastern Avenue and Cass Street.
According to police, Harris and the victim were in separate cars in the rear alley of the 100 block of East Cass Street "at which time the victim exited her vehicle and was stuck by Harris' vehicle, causing her to go over the hood and onto the ground."
Joliet officers arrested Harris at the scene without any problems, police said. The resident of Park Forest was booked into the Will County Jail around 8 p.m. Sunday.
As for the 24-year-old victim, a Joliet Fire Department ambulance brought her to the emergency room at the AMITA Health Saint Joseph Medical Center, so doctors could treat her injured leg.
On Monday, a Will County judge set bail for Harris at $7,000.
The two charges filed by prosecutors are: aggravated battery causing great bodily harm and aggravated battery using a deadly weapon.
