ELMHURST, IL — In the last few days, Elmhurst police handled cases involving explicit photos, a refund scam, door-to-door salespeople without permits and a fraudulent phone account. Here is information from the reports: Explicit photos A resident in the 700 block of North York Street told officers Saturday that he met a woman on a dating platform and exchanged explicit photos. The resident said the suspect then told him the photos would be sent to the victim's friends and family if he did not send money. The victim bought gift cards and provided the card numbers to the suspect. Refund scam A man placed a 12-foot Christmas tree in a shopping cart at the At Home store in Elmhurst, 265 S. Route 83. The man then produced a receipt to the cashier for the purchase of the same tree at an At Home store in Crestwood. The cashier scanned the receipt and refunded the credit card on the receipt for the full amount. The case is pending an investigation. Stolen items in move? A woman told police Thursday that she hired professional movers to move her mother's belongings from one apartment to another in the same building in the 400 block of West Butterfield Road. The following day, her mother was unable to find her purse and a bottle of bourbon. But her mother had not finished unpacking her belongings. Selling without permits Two youths were charged with going door-to-door soliciting without permits about 3 p.m. Friday in the 300 block of South Arlington Avenue. One of the youths was also charged with marijuana possession. They were released to a parent. Fraudulent phone accounts A resident in the 300 block of East Huntington Lane told police Saturday that he received a bill for three phone numbers that were activated using his personal information. The victim notified the phone company of the fraudulent accounts.
