ELMHURST, IL — In recent days, Elmhurst police have handled incidents involving an unconscious person in an elevator, retail theft, drug possession, bothersome youths, a stolen vehicle and driving violations. Check the latest Elmhurst police reports: Unconscious in elevator A person was found unconscious on the floor of an elevator about 5:30 p.m. Sunday in an apartment building in the 100 block of Addison Avenue. Medics took the intoxicated person to the hospital. Retail theft Jemar Burt, 33, of Chicago, was cited about 4:30 a.m. Sunday at CVS Pharmacy, 110 W. North Ave., on a charge of retail theft. He was released on bond. In the same incident, Darryl S. Fleming, 52, of Berwyn, was arrested on charges of unlawful possession of a controlled substance and retail theft. He was taken to the DuPage County Jail. According to a police report, the men stole eight bottles of alcohol, which were found in a car. Fleming was found in possession of crack cocaine. Alexander Sotiroupoulos, 43, of Wood Dale, was arrested shortly after midnight Thursday at CVS Pharmacy, 110 W. North Ave., on charges of burglary and retail theft. He was taken to the DuPage County Jail. According to a police report, Sotiroupoulos left the store with a cart of unpaid merchandise. Drug possession Anthony Knight, 47, of Berkeley, was arrested about 2 p.m. Friday in the 1000 block of South York on a charge of unlawful possession of a controlled substance. He was taken to the DuPage County Jail. According to a police report, Knight was found in possession of fentanyl. Bothersome youths A resident in the 700 block of South Bryan Street told police Saturday that a group of youths banged on the front door, then headed east on their bicycles after the resident confronted them. Suspicious group Officers responded to a report of four or five people who got out of a gray Mercedes-Benz, left the vehicle parked on the roadway and ran away about 10:30 p.m. Sunday at North Avenue and Route 83. The officers could not find the people. The vehicle was found to have been stolen in Chicago. Chicago police were notified. Warrant Dena Kanak, 50, of Chicago, was arrested about 8:30 p.m. Thursday at Schiller and Geneva on an Orland Park Police Department warrant. She was released on bond. Stolen vehicle While on patrol, an officer found a stolen car about 12:30 a.m. Sunday in the SpringHill Suites parking lot, 410 W. Lake St. It was a black BMW 535i. Driving violations Juan Manuel Mora, 28, of Maywood, was cited about 8 p.m. Friday at North and Highview on charges of driving with a suspended license, operating an uninsured motor vehicle and tinted windows. In the same stop, Maria Salcido-Hernandez, 26, of Maywood, was arrested on a DuPage County Sheriff's Office warrant. They were released on bond. Travon Jones, 21, of Chicago, was cited shortly before midnight Friday at North and Indiana on charges of no valid driver's license, unlawful possession of marijuana by a driver and improper lighting. He was released on bond. Bicycle fall A person approached an intersection in the 700 block of South Swain and fell off his bicycle about 5:30 p.m. Thursday. He was taken to Elmhurst Hospital. Fraudulent withdrawals A resident in the 900 block of Prospect Avenue told police she was notified of several fraudulent withdrawals from her bank account Friday. She said her wallet went missing last month, but did not notice any fraudulent activity at that time. The suspect is described as a white woman, 35 to 40 years old and last seen wearing a leather-type jacket with a gray zip-up-style sweatshirt. Police report information is provided by local police departments. Charges are not evidence of guilt. They are a record of police actions on a given day, and persons charged with a crime are presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.
