CHICAGO — Clearing, West Town, Lake View and Bridgeport are Chicago's rattiest neighborhoods, according to a new analysis of city data.
So far this year, the city's 311 call center fielded 60,054 rodent complaints. That's more than 22 per 1,000 Chicagoans, and an 11-percent spike over 2020, according to RentHop.com
In the Clearing community area this year, there have been 2,064 rodent complaints, which amounts to about 809 rat complaints per square mile.
The West Town community, which covers a larger geographic area, had the most 3,312 rat complaints — about 724 per square mile. Logan Square rat complaints to 311 totaled 2,199. And there were 2,182 rat-related 311 calls in Lake View, about 698 complaints per square mile.
In Bridgeport, folks called to complain about rats 1,510 times.
The RentHop analysis found 311 calls about rats more than tripled in the O'Hare community, and more than doubled in Edison Park, West Elsdon, Kenwood and Oakland.
