Ruger is 2 yrs old (3in Dec) He is a Border Collie Kelpie mix. His parents herded cows and he came to us from a farm. Ruger has high energy and loves to play. His favorite game is fetch and he will play until he falls over. He also knows how to play hide and seek with his toys. He knows commands like sit, shake, stay, down, and can even close doors. He responds very well to treat based learning. He is so smart and it is very easy to teach him new things. You are probably wondering why I would be rehoming him if he is this awesome. I cannot walk him as much as he deserves or at all lately. He has been attacked by off leash dogs 3 times while I walked him. And it is for this reason he doesn't do too well with random dogs. He did grow up with 2 other female dogs in the house though. I am scared to walk him and that us not fair to him at all. I got Ruger towards the end of my marriage when my ex still lived in the home. He was mean n yelled a lot and it is for this reason I believe Ruger does not like men. Hardly anyone can come over the house due to Ruger being unbelievably intimidating. He barks and growls and really just seems like he wants to eat whoever comes to the door. I paid $250 for a male trainer to come to the home and work with us. It was absolutely amazing to watch and I now know for a fact that the fear and aggression can be trained out of him. For a fortune I do not have unfortunately. I love my dog. He is my ESA and it absolutely KILLS me to have to do this. But i cannot afford the training to make him a safe part of our family. He will only go to someone who can and will do the training needed for him. Somewhere with no small children. Or cats. He HATES CATS. Maybe that can be trained out of him too who knows.
