Description

The Foundations course exists to teach students the fundamental skills and mindset needed to fight with a pistol from concealment. The Foundations of Fighting Pistol Course is the first of three defensive pistol classes in the Paladin Tower Tactics "Fighting Pistol Trilogy." This course is a prerequisite for all other courses. This course will give all students a foundation for surviving the gunfight, the legal fight, and the spiritual fight. This class and the subsequent classes, Permit to Proficient (intermediate pistol) and Gunfight (advanced pistol), is structured in such a way to prepare you for the violent nature of a deadly force encounter. These encounters will inevitably involve dealings with law enforcement and the judicial system. As this takes place, the emotional and spiritual trauma left in the aftermath of such an event is just as deadly as the gunfight if left unattended. At Paladin Tower Tactics we stand out from other training organizations because we teach our students how to prepare for the gunfight, the legal fight and the spiritual fight. Are you ready for all three? In this training course, you will learn how to safely handle a firearm, proper stance, and grip as it relates to fighting with a pistol. You will be taught the fundamentals of marksmanship, presentation from concealment (the draw), transitioning focus from threat to sights, the Wyatt Protocol, types of reloading, taking corrective action to clear malfunctions, one handed weapons manipulation, how to interact with first responders, laws governing deadly force, and spiritual fitness. The following is a list of gear that you will need to participate in class: 1. You will need 200 rounds of practice ammo for each shooter that will be participating 2. A handgun or revolver that is adequate for fighting – this does not include pocket pistols. Some .380 pistols are not adequate or reliable enough to meet these criteria, and .22 caliber handguns are not allowed for training 3. At least three spare magazines or speed clips (if you are shooting a revolver) 4. A belt that supports the weight of your firearm while on your person 5. A holster that you can wear on your belt on your dominant hand side; all trigger finger released holsters are prohibited on all courses. If you come with one, you will not be allowed to train until it is replaced. An Example of this is a Blackhawk Serpa holster 6. A magazine holder that you can wear on your belt 7. Hearing protection 8. Eye protection – both clear and shaded 9. Appropriate clothing – no flip flops or tank tops. Recommend pants, t-shirt, and some type of boot or shoe. We also highly encourage you to come to class wearing the attire you plan to carry in on a daily basis if possible. Obviously, you don’t want to get a suit or nice blouse dirty, but training how you would actually fight is the spirit of this point. Remember rain gear, bug spray, or sunscreen – whatever the weather or season requires 10. Bring a notebook and pen (preferably one that fits in a pocket) 11. Please bring plenty of water for yourself 12. Optional- a handheld flashlight that fits in a pocket The exact range location and further details will be available after student attendance is confirmed.
