Electric bassist (mid-40s) available for pro act. My time is 100% dedicated to music, so daytime rehearsals preferred. More influenced by styles than specific players, but grew up on prog rock (Rush, Pink Floyd, Jethro Tull). Nowadays into more world music (West Africa, Ethiopia), electro-experimental, and ambient. Occasionally play with effects. Like some of Bill Laswell's projects, particularly Jai Uttal's "Shivastation", and groups like Souljazz Orchestra. Love Malian blues, Balkan brass, Gogol Bordello, and Tom Waits too. Some experience with Hungarian folk, restaurant and tanchaz music. Also some jazz standard experience (can read basic charts). Singing ability but happy laying back on bass as I front other projects and have other outlets for creativity. Would like to find a regular gig perhaps performing for pay twice a month. Easily fit into Blues and Americana idioms, but would like to do more than the same old tunes. Prefer something with a "world" spin to it, but know that term isn't always descriptive. 25+ years of experience - live and studio. Ran a studio for 6 years, and have put out my own material.
