Description

Teachers, come take an art break as you head into spring. Luxuriate in the sparkly, over-the-top glory of Venetian glass. Take a deep breath and step into the sparkling, shimmering light of Venice. Join the Smithsonian American Art Museum’s team of educators in the galleries for a special tour of the exhibition Sargent, Whistler, and Venetian Glass: American Artists and the Magic of Murano. Learn more about Venetian glass techniques and the artists it inspired. Discuss color, line, and whimsy. Are these extravagant artworks too much or just enough? This in-person gallery tour is designed for educators of all grade levels and disciplines. Free | Registration required, space is limited. Note: This program may be held virtually pending evolving Smithsonian in-person event guidance. Additional details will be emailed to you the week prior to the event.
