The last of the Halloween pumpkins has rotted, so you know what that means... yes, it's time to shop for Christmannukwanza! Of course, capitalism is at its best when it's local, and we've rounded up some women-owned local businesses for the annual Women Who Whiskey LBC Holiday Shopping Event! In addition, the majority of your ticket price for this event will go to the amazing local charity No Us Without You. It's a win-win-win: support small businesswomen, score some amazing gifts, and help needy families all at once! The event will be held at Susan Hammond Skincare on Sunday, 11/28; drop in any time between 2-4 PM. Susan provides a wide range of services and products to keep you glowing all year long. Her shop is located at 1105 E 3rd St. in Long Beach. We're also featuring Chingona Bitters, who will be popping up with hand-crafted, small-batch cocktail bitters. Flavors that remind us of our past & present moments w/our familia. Made by a local Chicana chingona: @badassbettyb on the 'Gram. And, of course, there will be whiskey. Our special guest is Mari Heaney with Maker’s Mark, and she will be sharing holiday spirit(s) and some facts about Margie Samuels, the first woman directly connected to a distillery to be inducted into the Kentucky Bourbon Hall of Fame. She is credited with many of the distinctive design features that give the Maker's Mark bottle its unique look, from its square shape to its red wax. Give Back Tickets are $12 (+fees) and proceeds will be donated to No Us Without You, one of our favorite 501c3 organizations that’s providing food security in Los Angeles County. The unsung heroes of your favorite bars and restaurants are the back-of-house staff, but they are often ineligible for government assistance, making them particularly vulnerable in these pandemic times. No Us Without You distributes 160,000 lbs of food every week for nearly 1,700 families in their program. This is a ticketed event and tickets are limited, so make sure to get your tickets ASAP to avoid disappointment. VACCINATION REQUIRED All attendees must be fully vaccinated from COVID -19 & will be required to show proof of their vaccination status before entering the event. Refunds will not be issued to those unvaccinated as we’ve clearly stated the requirements. This is an in-person, indoor event at the shop. As of now per current mandates, masks will be required indoors while not seated, eating or drinking. Please note: this will be a limited private 21+ event, only ticket holders will be permitted to attend. Cancellation Policy: All tickets are non-refundable, but in the case you are unable to attend, you may transfer your ticket(s) to someone else. You'll need to email us with the updated attendee information. Women Who Whiskey-LBC was launched in October 2019 and is the third California chapter of Women Who Whiskey, an international whiskey appreciation club that Julia Ritz Toffoli started in New York in 2012. There are now a total of 25 wWw chapters world-wide. With over 40-percent of whiskey-drinkers now being women, it was time for women to have a space to become more educated and confident consumers. Women Who Whiskey became exactly that, creating a space for education where women can ask questions in a non-intimidating environment and explore spirits on her terms.
