Join Disabled Hikers for an accessible outing! We will take a stroll and roll on the paved trail along the river. Disabled Hikers is coming to Asheville! Join us on an accessible fall outing at French Broad River Park! We will take a casual stroll and roll on the paved trail along the river. Come enjoy time outdoors with other disabled folx and learn accessible outdoor tips and nature identification from Syren! Masks are required for this event. If you can wear a mask, we ask that you do. If you can't, please provide proof of vaccination. Disabled Hikers is an inclusive disability-led and disability-centered organization grounded in principles of disability justice. Syren Nagakyrie, the founder of Disabled Hikers, is a multiply disabled and chronically ill person who is enthusiastic about the outdoors and disability community. They lived in Asheville for several years and can't wait to be back! We welcome anyone who needs a group of supportive hikers. The group hikes together; we adapt the hike to match the needs of everyone present, rest when needed, and make decisions about when to turn back as a group. All of our events begin with a moment to honor the land and the Indigenous peoples, followed by group introductions. There is never any pressure to share anything.
