Learn clay construction methods, glazing, finishing, then warm up next to a Raku kiln and finish your work. All experience levels welcome! In this two session class, you will learn both construction methods and the process of Raku glazing & firing -- all through hands-on instruction! All experience levels welcome! Session 1: Make It! - participants will learn the basics of wheelthrowing, slab building and/or coil construction in a 3-hr session geared towards creating pieces to glaze & fire in the second session. Session 2: Bake & Take It! - participants will learn glazing processes, types of glazes, & safe equipment operation to finish their pieces they created during the first session in the Forge's Raku kiln. The rapid Raku firing process will enable participants to finish and take home their new treasures that day! All materials are provided. Please wear clothes you don't mind getting dirty. Class schedule is Monday and the Thursday of the following week. There must be at least 2 participants for this class to occur. If 2 are not signed up, refunds will be initiated by the organizer no later than the Monday after the scheduled class date. *Be advised that the second session occurs partially outdoors and dates may be subject to change due to unpredictable NC weather* The attached video is to demonstrate the Raku firing process. The founders believe that everyone should have the opportunity to express themselves and their ideas through the act of making.  Located in downtown Greensboro, the facility holds 3D printers, laser engravers, woodworking, welding, maching, electronics, ceramics and sewing equipment, all under one roof. Access to the space comes with membership, though more classes and workshops are being offered to nonmembers each month.
