NATICK, MA — Welcome to the Nov. 15 edition of Monday Manual, where we highlight important events coming up during the week (plus a local fact) in seven Patch communities between Framingham and Worcester. This week we're starting in Natick, which was the childhood home of Jonathan Richman. The musician is best known for his interludes in the movie "There's Something About Mary" and for the song "Roadrunner," which has been in the running to become the official state song of Massachusetts (largely thanks to Natick state Rep. David Linsky). 1) Natick The Natick School Committee is set to vote on possibly closing Johnson Elementary School. The circa 1949 school is near capacity and in need of repairs that could cost millions. The meeting starts at 6 p.m. Monday. 2) Worcester Monday is the last day to apply to become either the poet laureate or youth poet laureate (ages 13 to 19) of Worcester. Applications can be submitted directly to the city here. 3) Sudbury With the onset of cooler temperatures, you have noticed a drop in humidity — and your skin probably has, too. The Goodnow Library on Tuesday will host a special workshop about moisturizing cream, and participants will get to make their own creams. 4) Framingham Interested in what your property tax bill might look like next year? The Framingham City Council will likely set the fiscal 2022 tax rates on Tuesday. Councilors typically elect to split the tax rate, shifting the tax levy burden onto commercial property owners. Here's what the rate-setting discussion looked like in 2020. 5) Milford Milford will also set its tax rates this week. The Select Board will hold a public hearing Monday for anyone interested in giving feedback. 6) Marlborough Marlborough Public Schools and Bouvier Pharmacy will team up to offer free coronavirus vaccines to kids age 5 to 11. MPS is encouraging parents to sign up in advance. The clinic will run from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Marlborough High School. 7) Wayland Wayland will host a town-wide forum on Tuesday about the future of the police department. Most importantly, town officials will discuss the search for a new permanent police chief. If you have an event or activity you want included in Monday Manual, email [email protected].
