Description

OPINION....Medfield resident and senior citizen encourages YES Vote To the Community, Voting against the Debt Exclusion and waiting to replace Dale is only going to hurt the students. I have lived in Medfield for 45 years and have attended almost all Town Meetings, not just the "Special Town Meetings." All five of my children were educated here, went to excellent Universities, have great jobs and are self-sufficient. I believe in Paying it Forward. I am also a teacher who substitute teaches in the Medfield Public Schools. As a senior citizen in town, I CERTAINLY don't want my taxes to increase any more than I want my gas or grocery prices to increase, but they are. If we vote No at the polls on Monday we lose the $20 million MSBA Grant and all the other money which has been put into this project up until now. Both sides agree that the current Dale Street School needs to be replaced and this project will not go away. Prolonging this decision by voting No at the Special Election will only end up costing us more in the long run due to the continued increased construction costs and interest rates. Waiting will only hurt the students and will not benefit anyone. I "watch my pennies" and I believe this new elementary school project should be done now and costs will only go up in the future! I don't want yours and my hard-earned money used for "digging out of the $20 million hole" and "reinventing the wheel" but I want it going directly towards students' education in Medfield. Keep in mind that our property values are driven by the caliber of our schools. I will be voting YES at the polls on Monday, Nov. 15th. Sincerely, Nancy Irwin, Woodfall Rd., Medfield
