Veterans Day in Medfield... Residents of Medfield gathered at Baxter Park at 5pm on Thursday, November 11th to honor both local Medfield veterans who have passed away and those who are their neighbors, friends and family who served in the armed forces.
The pathways were lined with luminary bags, all honoring veterans. The American Legion Auxiliary lights Baxter Park each Veterans Day. Michelle Doucette and the other members organize this activity.
Legion Post Commander, Frank Iafolla, held a brief ceremony beginning by welcoming everyone and reading the names beloved veterans that passed away during the last year.He also spoke fondly about the former Commander Al Manganello who passed away in January.
Sgt of Arms Paul Galofaro and Legionairre Paul Foscaldo stood next to the Commander, and Garofalo recited a prayer.
To conclude, Iafolla instructed all Veterans to stand behind their respective branch of the military flag. Army, Navy, Marine Corps, Air Force, Coast Guard and Merchant Marine flags were all raised by veterans in attendance, honoring Veterans day.
