Experience the art of the sword. A full weekend event featuring world class fencing instructors, prize tournaments, demonstrations and more! If competing, please read our Tournament Rules TOURNAMENT REGISTRATION INSTRUCTIONS: To register for a tournament, first add your main registration ticket to the cart. Then scroll down the menu to ''ADD- ON'S''. Add desired tournaments to cart. For rapier only *ONE* tournament can be registered for, either Open *OR* Beginner. Fencers registering for beginner's rapier must have two years or less active fencing experience. In celebration of our 20th Anniversary, Diamond Rose Academie D’Armes proudly presents Rose and Thorns Historical Fencing Symposium , to be held in Auburn, CA March 28 & 29th, 2020 . Northern California has a high density of exceptionally talented practitioners of western martial arts, and Rose and Thorns hopes to create an opportunity for that talent to be displayed and shared publicly. This brand new event offers an entire weekend of historical fencing tournaments and workshops for all experience levels, as well as opportunity for spectation and introductory classes for anyone with a new interest in the art of the sword. This event will be held in the heart of the Sierra Foothills at the beautiful Gold Country Fairgrounds. The 11,000 sq ft. venue known as the 'Armory Building' features athletic floors, easy access, and free parking. Whether you’re picking up a blade for the very first time, or dueling your way to the top of one of our prize tournaments, this event has a role for you. Fencers from HEMA (Historical European Martial Arts), SCA (Society for Creative Anachronism) , independent organizations, and classical fencing schools will all be represented to test their skill at arms, teach lessons in their areas of expertise, and forge new connections. Tournaments will include Open Rapier, Beginner’s Rapier, Smallsword, and 19th c. Dueling Sword. The event is open to all fencers, and to the general public for spectating and introductory lessons . Schedule Saturday March 28th 9 am Doors Open 10 am Last call tournament check-in. Event start/Announcements/Gear check 11am Open Rapier tournament begins (First Division) 11:30 am Classes Begin 12:00pm Final event check- in 1 pm Lunch 2 pm Beginner's Rapier tournament 2:30 pm Open Rapier tournament (Second Division) 5:30pm Rapier Finals for both tournaments , prizes awarded Sunday March 29th 9am Doors Open 10 am Last call tournament check-in .
