This position will be responsible for: Feeding, watering, and medicating horses Observing horses for signs of injury, illness, or other significant changes Communicating any problems, engaging services of a veterinarian if required Assisting with or performing safe/humane handling of animals during treatments and other handling routines and maintaining procedures to minimize stress on animals Maintaining inventory of animal care supplies – feed, bedding, supplements, and medications Procuring supplies as needed Managing manure in all enclosures Possibly moving horses between pastures or stalls and paddocks as needed or for turnout Other tasks/activities as assigned for the care of animals and maintenance of facilities Two years minimum experience with horses required Knowledge of how to safely work with a wide range of horses who may not be easily handled Excellent observational, communication, and organizational skills Ability to follow written directions and record observations Reliable and flexible attendance is essential to providing optimum animal care Ability to communicate effectively with other staff members, volunteers, and supervisors When applying, please submit your resume or a detailed email describing your experience This position is located on a ranch that is remote and is 50 min from Prineville and an hour from Bend and Redmond Fuel assistance will be provided This job is full time 40 hours a week, applicant must be available to work weekends
