I'm a guitarist who's getting a little sick of rocking solo on acoustic on the front porch or blowing minds alone on an electric with a looper. Wouldn't mind making some interesting improvisational music with like-minded players, especially if they/you are a little better than me. I've been playing for ~35 years (I'm nearly 50). I know my way around most Dead songs (Bird Song and Dark Star are favorites) and love playing that stuff (saw GD and JGB a bunch in the late '80s/early '90s). Huge phan, too (holy Blankenstein!) But I'm not JUST a stupid hippie -- I'm also just as much a fan of Can, Popul Vuh, Sun City Girls (Sir Richard Bishop), The Fall, Earth, The Boredoms, Destroyer, indie improvisational rockers like Chris Forsyth (Philly's own) or Ryley Walker. Wouldn't mind jamming out indie rock classics by Galaxie 500 or REM or Songs:Ohia or Palace etc. Generally just looking to find decent friendly semi-intelligent players (bassists, drummers, guitarists, horn players, cellists, keyboardists, harmonium-ers) interested in playing decent devilish stupid-interesting music. More interested at this point in casual occasional rocking out and establishing some connections than putting together a band or aspiring to gig. Wouldn't mind recording and playing out at some point down the line if it seems like a reasonable/natural progression but more so, again, wouldn't mind just taking Bird Song deep on acoustic every now and then.
