Annual Back in Time Fundraiser - Celebrating Key West's Bicentennial ANNUAL BACK IN TIME FUNDRAISER – CELEBRATING KEY WEST’S BICENTENNIAL WHEN & WHERE Monday, January 31, 2022 at the Casa Marina Resort Permanent settlement of Key West began in 1822. and to honor the island’s Bicentennial, we are staging our annual fundraiser to reflect its history, art and culture! We encourage costumes and characters from our history – think Henry Flagler, a shipwreck captain, Ellen Mallory, a rumrunner, Mario Sanchez, Ernest Hemingway, etc. Special awards for best dressed so plan accordingly! Guests arrive at the Casa Marina Resort on Monday, January 31for a welcome drink in the Grand Ballroom & Patio. That is followed by a three-course dinner, music, rum and cigars on the terrace, a photo booth, wine pull and more! Your museums. Your community. It takes an island. Party proceeds support the ongoing restoration of the Custom House, a superb example of Richardsonian Romanesque Architecture.  The Society, founded in 1949, opened the Custom House as Key West’s premier museum in 1999 after a 9 year, $9 million restoration project. The monies raised from the evening will support updating the building’s aging mechanical systems, which are required to preserve the building and collections.
