Description

Not currently doing anything musically. I play bass.. I can play some guitar as well. Any drummers out there who like to sing and are in to getting a little experimental and creating some original music? If you're seeking a paying gig and only a paying gig.. this isn't for you. Perhaps there's a tribute band or a group playing top 40's somewhere that would be happy to have you. Ours will be a product that first has to be built.. and in order for it to be good you first kind of have to love playing music for the sake of making art, and even then there's no guarantees of a payday.. but if we are to make headlines, this is the way to do it. Other musicians will be required, but right now I'm looking for my right hand man and someone who preferably has a kit and a place we can all plug in. Being clear up front - while I don't intend to be a dictator.. starting from the ground up I'm the one putting up the ad, I'll be the one trying to figure out everybody's schedules trying to figure out the most convenient time for everybody.. relaying messages back and forth, hearing the complaints about each other from everybody. That's work. It's also called being the band leader. And I need people who fit well into my vision to make this work or I'd just rather not do it. If that's a problem for you, don't bother replying to this ad. It's not personal, I've just done this before and know what I want to do. If you're a skilled drummer who's into the idea of making a brand and music we can call our own but do not have a space.. I know of a place we can rent that didn't sound too expensive. If you're a guitarist or keyboardist who can also provide lead vocals and happen to have a space a band can set up and work on writing music together, I'm open to hearing from you as well. My style incorporates concepts of funk, and is often times kind of funky but could maybe be categorized by various styles of music. I want to do some reggae, but without any fake Jamaican accents. I have a few songs I've written that remind me of Primus and I know a guy who plays some mean lead guitar that has the perfect voice for it, although maybe just for those songs. Many styles of music could find their way into any one given song as far as I'm concerned. I'm not much into playing things that sound like southern rock, country, or bluegrass. I don't want to sound like the Stones, or AC/DC or a run of the mill rock and roll band. I mentioned Primus but that's just a few songs out of what will be a plethora and it's just a vibe.. it's still very much my own work. If ever someone should hear us for a second time in their life, it won't be hard to identify us. I'm not into playing covers.. music is a creative outlet for me. It's an identity. It's a voice. It's one of the best feelings I've ever had in the world. Much like I don't post memes on Facebook to express myself using someone else's thoughts.. I'm not looking to express myself with someone else's music. Looking for people with good ears that aren't afraid of some simple improvisation as a method of writing.. and perhaps as a way to put some twists into a live performance once we feel comfortable doing so. Being primarily a bassist, I'm always looking for the right drummer.. that one who within his warmup is playing the beats I've been hearing in my head all of my life. Or someone who can at least hear them when I play them on my bass and react accordingly. Or inspire me to play something new and interesting that I like the sound of. Vice Versa. I'm open to letting that develop, but in my experience the best results were something I knew would come within about a minute of listening to someone play. Until I find that drummer forgive me if my responses are not in high hopes, if you play other instruments and happen to be able to sing. It's just that in my experience, without that solid backbone of a rhythm section that can lock in time and compliment each other, nothing sounds quite as tight and electronic beat platforms unfortunately just can't react to things like a human component could. HMU If you play drums or are otherwise interested in making some original music and have a spot appropriate for a band to write and rehearse. With the right kind of people who have enough free time, and a good work ethic... I can see being near completion of a first setlist within 6 months with plenty of material to work with into the future. I have a few songs written and pretty much work on something new any time I sit down to play.. which is frequently. If you can dig what I'm doing and maybe help me figure out where to go with some of it.. there is no shortage of creativity. There is no shortage of gear for recording anything and everything we do, personal monitor mixes and personal monitor mixers so every member hears what they want to hear, how they want to hear it. All I'm lacking are some good powered speakers to be able to provide a full FoH setup that would allow everybody to perform live ampless if they so desired. I'm just missing the right people and a spot to set up.
