Holiday Ship Lighting at Martin's Park Boston! The City of Boston, the Friends of Martin's Park and the Boston Parks and Recreation Department will host the 1st Annual Holiday Lighting of the signature Wooden Play Ship located in Martin’s Park on Saturday, November 27, beginning at 4 p.m. Located at 64 Sleeper Street at the Smith Family Waterfront in Boston’s Seaport, Martin’s Park will be transformed into a beautiful holiday display when the park’s wooden play ship, surrounding beach fencing and pedestrian bridge are illuminated with over 1500 feet of blue and white tube lights. Visible from the Northern Avenue Bridge and the Smith Family Waterfront, visitors are encouraged to head inside the park for the celebration, sponsored by the Friends of Martin’s Park and the City of Boston. Watch as Santa arrives by boat at the Harborwalk and enters the Park to switch on the lights. Entertainment will be provided by Ball In The House, performing a selection of holiday classics, along with special guest the Seaport’s own Betty the Yeti. Hot cocoa will be provided by Tuscan Kitchen and Flour Bakery, and attendees will have the opportunity to take home a souvenir of the 1st Annual event, while supplies last. Friends of Martin’s Park, Inc. strives to provide a welcoming, public gathering place and playground rich with robust horticulture that celebrates the diversity and inclusion of all its visitors. Since the Park’s opening in 2019, Friends of Martin’s Park acts as the steward responsible for the endowment and programming of this unique green space. In partnership with the City of Boston’s Parks & Recreation Department, FOMP oversees the management and care of Martin’s Park. MISSION It is our Mission to ensure the horticultural care and the public programming of an inclusive park and playground to honor Martin Richard and his legacy.
