Catechesis of the Good Shepherd Level II Formation (Course #2-580) COVID-19 UPDATE ***Due to recent COVID developments, the first part of this course is being postponned. The updated dates for this course will be published as soon as they are finalized.. PLEASE NOTE: Registration for this course constitutes a commitment of two summers (the length of the complete course) Founded in 1954, the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd has attempted to further develop the work of Dr. Maria Montessori in the realm of the spiritual life of the child. This approach the religious formation of children is grounded in Sacred Scripture, Catholic Doctrine, Liturgy and Prayer. Themes are presented in such a way as to develop the religious potential present in every child: the capacity to love and be loved and be in a deep relationship with God. Formation Leader Sister Mary Rose Bingham, O.P. has a Master’s in theology from Franciscan University, a Masters in Elementary Education from Belmont University, and a master’s in educational administration from University of Southern Mississippi. She has been trained in all three levels of Catechesis of the Good Shepherd in addition to Montessori AMS Primary Certification. She has taught in a Montessori primary environment and Level I, II and III Atria. Sister enjoys training others in CGS and getting to know participants from around the country in CGS Level I and II.
