Here are the top stories today in Sacramento: A 3-year-old who was abducted in Sacramento on Friday after the child's mother and another person were shot by a suspect has been found safe and the suspect has been taken into custody in the Bay Area, Sacramento police said on Saturday. The child and suspect were found together in Hayward. The suspect, 30-year-old Joshua Yago, was considered armed and dangerous, California Highway Patrol said. Investigators believe the victims and suspect were known to one another. (KCRA3) UC Davis varsity baseball Head Coach Matt Vaughn resigned Friday after being found to have failed to address concerns brought to him regarding hazing in 2018. An investigation into alleged misconduct among the UC Davis varsity baseball team found evidence of hazing and a team culture of alcohol use, the university announced. This news came in a final report on the investigation released by UC Davis. Evidence showed that an annual tradition of hazing new players included a series of challenges involving excessive drinking, pressure to drink and other inappropriate activities, UC Davis said. (CBS Sacramento)More than 15,800 turkeys and trimmings were collected during the 2021 KCRA Turkey Drive in partnership with The Sacramento Food Bank & Family Services. Friends of Folsom arrived at the Turkey Drive with a military vehicle to help deliver 10,000 turkeys for the event. Staff and volunteers helped with a touchless experience all day Friday by removing the turkeys from vehicles. (KCRA3)The Citrus Heights City Council has unanimously approved plans to revitalize the Sunrise Mall. The Sunrise Tomorrow Specific Plan will take the largely retail space and redistribute it to to mostly office space and a 480 room hotel as well as 2,200 residential units. (FOX40)Applications are now open to fill multiple spots on the City of Sacramento Youth Commission (SYC). The various powers and duties of SYC members range from promoting City youth services and functions to conducting studies and investigations on youth programs. The term lasts for two years. "We cannot wait for adult leaders to enact the change we wish to see," said SYC Chair Naomi Piper-Pell, District 6. "They tell us we're the leaders of tomorrow, but in reality we are the leaders of today and we must take the torch and make the change we want."
