Ready to celebrate the 46th US Presidential Inauguration in style? Charleston, SC is the place to be! Join the newly formed Charleston Area Black Caucus, a Political Action Committee responsible for the vetting of appropriatepolitical candidates who require, solicit, and will pass laws in support of the the African American community. The caucus encompasses the geographical areas of Charleston, Berkeley and Dorchester counties and also offers unique membership benefits to assist with black business creation, sustainment, investing, and overall economic education. The group will hold its second event in the way of a formal gala and membership drive, celebrating the inauguration of the 46th President of the United States- Joe Biden, and Vice President Kamala Harris. The event is slated for Wednesday, January 20, 2020 at Your Signature Hall & Events in Ladson, SC owned by nationally recognized floral engineer, Michelle Summers. Tickets are available via eventbrite. The goal of the ball is to draw local constituents and industry leaders unable to travel to Washington for the in-person inauguration festivities due to expensive hotel rates and Covid-19 precautions. CDC guidelines will be followed and the public will also have the opportunity to attend virtually after the attendance limit is met. Guests are asked to purchase tickets early. Ticket types include early bird, general admission and VIP. The event will offer a full-course meal, cash bar and open bar for special ticket holders, music, entertainment and much more. The group will also air highlights from the inauguration on a large screen. The group hopes to gain membership leads, educate and inform the general public of its mission and purpose and present its 2021-2022 action plan. The organization meets weekly on Tuesday evenings via Zoom. On October 7, 2020 and opening in-person reception was help where 13 executive board members were installed. The group was founded and is led by Henry Ravenel, a regional CEO, small business influencer and Charleston- based entrepreneur. Other organizing executives are Arell Tee, Casandra Boswell, Jalietta Davis, Melanie Brown, Charles Miller, Khalid Gadson, Antigonie Jones, David Brown, Ellita Robinson, Samuel Bias, Rashaad Smith and Tieulda Mike-Jones.
