Join us for the 2nd installment of the Dockery's Songwriters Series! The Songwriter Series Dockery’s is bringing together an amazing lineup of some of country music’s finest songwriters paired with some of Charleston’s very own troubadours. Come listen to the stories behind how some of your favorite country songs came to be as these Nashville legends play their hits and give quick interviews about themselves during the Dockery’s Songwriter Series! Charleston songwriters will be selected from those who've submitted entries into the Dockery's Songwriting Contest and will be announced once selected. Kickin' Country's TJ Phillips will MC the evening. About Danny Wells Originally from Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina, Danny Wells landed his first job on Music Row with Town and Country Productions where he mailed records for the Warner Brothers label. In 1983, Wells graduated from Belmont University and began working as a song plugger for a music publishing company. He also spent much of his time playing in various bands, writing songs, and working in sales. In January of 1992 Wells began to concentrate on what he loved most—songwriting. In December of 1994, he wrote the George Strait hit, Check Yes Or No. The song would become a number one hit and launch a songwriting career that has included cuts by the likes of John Michael Montgomery, JoDee Messina, Joe Diffie, Sara Evans, Tracy Byrd, and others. Wells currently serves on the Executive Board for the Nashville Songwriters Association International as well as their Board of Directors. His songs have received BMI’s certification for over 14 million radio airplays.
