Description
I've done many styles of music. Blues, Hendrix, Santana, Mana, Beatles, reggae, rock en espaniol, cumbia, El Chicano, Malo, rancheras, classic R&B, alternative, 90's rock, Red Hot Chili Peppers, classic rock, oldies, Top 40, Los Lobos, Chicano soul, Rick James, and studied classical. I can fake my way thru salsa but I don't want to embarrass myself with attempting that. Not into jazz and not into metal. Jazz puts me to sleep and heavy metal is too angry.
I have an excellent connection into the Sac music scene but I can't contact this person unless I have a good, solid band to promote. I've turned down a few bands in the Sac area. I turned down a noted Latin band in Sac because the bandleader wanted me to play exactly the way he wanted and I can't work with someone like that. I turned down a gigging Latin reggae band in Sac because I can't just play one type of music.
Right before the pandemic hit, I went to an open jam in Sac and got stereotyped for being brown and treated like someone who didn't belong there. When I got my turn to play, I ripped and did a bunch of bass solos, packed up and left. Either the music scene has gotten really racial or maybe it's always been and I'm just now realizing it.
Looking to jam and go from there.
