Commemorate the shortest day and longest night of the year with a hike and candle-lit reflection in the woods of Shepherd Parkway. As the darkness grows around us, we’re lighting a candle with what we hope will become a new tradition: Winter Solstice Hike and Vigil. On December 21, as the shortest day of year gives way to the longest night of the year, we’ll take a half-mile walk through a beautiful and rarely-visited section of Shepherd Parkway to a wooded hilltop overlooking DC. We’ll light candles and pause to reflect on the joys and sorrows of the past year and share hopes for the year to come.
