Beginning Birdwatching class - 4 weekly sessions including lecture and bird walks (March 3, 10, 17 and 24) Have you ever seen a bird and wondered "what in the world" is that?!? And then you try to look it up and just get frustrated... If so, this class is for you! The class is taught by Jane Patterson, current President and Education chair for Baton Rouge Audubon Society. This class will cover the basics needed to get into birdwatching. We'll talk about binoculars and field guides and how to choose and use them. We'll talk about how to bring birds to your yard where you can see them up close. And we'll talk about how to take your newfound skills into the field. **NOTE** If you have taken this class previously and are interested in taking it again, please email me so that I can place you on the waiting list. I'd like to give new folks a chance to sign up first. This class will consist of 4 sequential weekly sessions (March 3, 10, 17, 24) that will include lectures and field trips (weather permitting) . - Class will be limited to 12 people - Class will be held in the large room at Hilltop. Chairs will be spaced out so that people not the in the same household are over 6' apart. - Masks will be required for students. I will wear a mask except when I'm at the front lecturing in which case I will maintain a good distance from everyone. - Bird walks (field trips) will be on site at PARD or to another local venue. Face coverings are not required outside but you should have one with you in case we need to congregate. - I will have binoculars to loan, which you will sanitize prior to use with provided antibacterial wipes. However, it is advised that you purchase your own binoculars prior to a field trip if possible. - Anyone that feels sick on the day of class will be asked not to attend. If I feel ill, class will be cancelled. If I cancel class, refunds will be provided. Refunds will only be offered to students if cancellation is processed at least 7 days before class (so that I can attempt to fill the spot).
