After operating for nearly five years in the heart of downtown Columbus, Lucabe Coffee Co. is expanding its specialty coffee business with a second location on the near east side of town at 2531 Eastbrook Plaza, in the former Irwin Union Bank and Trust Bank that was designed by world-renowned architect Harry Weese and originally opened in 1961. The event is free, open to the public, and family-friendly. There will be free coffee and treats, kids grab bowl, a photo-opp feature-wall, live music, and a grand giveaway! Musicians Allen Purtlebaugh and Ben Wever will play at about 4:00 pm. The coffee shop’s new location is in a scenic corner with a large outdoor patio overlooking Haw Creek along the Columbus People Trail. Join us from the convenience of your car at the drive-thru, for a break from your bike ride, or from the old bank vault inside. We also invite you to bring a gift for Toys for Tots. Lucabe is optimistic that the adaptive reuse of the building will allow it to become a community asset and continue Columbus’ celebration of architecture and design. This partnership event will bring together this local business with the non-profit organization Landmark Columbus Foundation to recognize architecture’s importance over preservation and adaptive reuse projects. In addition to, gaining remarkable community support and growing Columbus’ business economy.
