Description

Injury Prevention Workshop for Dancers Every dancer deserves a chance to reach their highest goals and potential. Injury and illness can hinder performance, making it difficult to reach these goals. Prevention is the most important aspect of maintaining a healthy body and lifestyle. The first step is learning how to avoid injury and illness. Once you have established that, it will be much easier for you to achieve your goals and enjoy dancing. This workshop will give you a comprehensive and fun look at how to properly prevent injuries and even treat minor injuries that do occur. Attendees will enjoy the following: -Learn why vitamins & minerals are so important to healthy connective tissue, why a lot of dancers have deficiencies, & how to reverse them -How to incorporate natural anti-inflammatories into your diet -How hydration plays a huge part in healthy joints, tendons, muscles, and ligaments -You will also learn, via demonstrations and interactive exercises, how proper training techniques can help prevent common injuries -Tips on how to correct common muscular imbalances (weak vs. tight) -How to properly use flexibility to encourage strong connective tissue Finally, we will conclude the workshop with a Q&A, snacks, and book signing of A Dancer's Diary & Stress Less Cooking by Deidra Howard. As artists, dancers are always pushing themselves to the limit. Amanda's goal is to help dancers learn how to push their bodies without sacrificing their health to achieve their highest potential within the dance profession, whether they are pursuing a professional career or not. Presented by Amanda E. Howard NCSF Certified Personal Trainer & Health Specialist, Owner of La Belle Vie Fitness & Dance, Author of A Dancer's Diary
