MIDDLETON, MA — Inmate video visits with family and friends were temporarily suspended at the Essex County House of Correction this week amid what the Essex County Sheriff's Office is calling an "uptick" in coronavirus cases.
The Essex Sheriff's Office said the suspension is designed "to mitigate movement within our facility."
Public in-person visitation for family and friends remains suspended as well.
Visits are allowed for attorneys. Each inmate has access to a tablet, which allows for phone calls.
"The health and safety of everyone who lives or works here is our top priority," the Essex County Sheriff's Office said.
Updates will be posted on the Office's website and social media pages.
