BELLMORE, NY — Mepham High School's Class of 2022 Valedictorian earned a top score in her Advanced Placement Research exam. Helena Fu got a perfect score of five, one of only 375 students worldwide to earn every possible point. Her topic was Sustainable Urban Design and her research was titled, "Sustainability Without Borders: The Design of a Theoretical Eco-friendly Apartment Building Based on the Analysis of Existing Sustainable Housing Models Internationally." Fu said in a statement: "I hope that this study will encourage others to become more involved in environmental policies, as well as inspire more support for the development of eco-apartments, so that building-by-building, we can all work toward the creation of eco-cities around the world." She has also been recognized as a National Merit Semifinalist, AP Scholar with Distinction and an All-County Artist.
